The top 8 of GP Montreal featured last week’s guest Felix Tse, who disproved his whole theory about not being able to do well at Magic after age 30. KYT and Jeremey look at some of the Standard decks from the previous weekend’s tournaments as Jeremey tries to decide on a deck for his Portuguese PPTQ. In Modern, is Dredge the right deck to take to a big tournament? The Eh Team welcomes Robert Lombardi back to the show, now with a new GP top 8 in Montreal under his belt! The 8-1 deck that almost wasn’t good enough, and then the great first draft, terrible second draft, and great top eight draft. What will Robert play for the Modern WMCq in Toronto? Not Dredge… maybe Scapeshift? Captain Canada gets some well-deserved mothership recognition.

The Eh Team #289 – The Good Ol’ Days

[saf feature=”itunes” itunes=”https://itunes.apple.com/ca/podcast/manadeprived.com-the-eh-team/id827981492″ cta=”Subscribe in iTunes” align=”none”][saf stitcher=”http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/manadeprived/the-eh-team” rss=”http://manadeprived.com/podcasts/the-eh-team/feed” facebook=”https://www.facebook.com/mtgehteam” align=”none”]

Jay Boosh is back!! Jeremey top 8’d a PPTQ with Modern Dredge! He didn’t make it past the quarterfinals, but did have some very encouraging success with his new Eldritch Moon tweak to the deck, [card]Collective Brutality[/card], as well as saw some really interesting uses for [card]Eldritch Evolution[/card]. Judge Jeremey discusses how to handle a very interesting Missed Trigger situation. But you know what’s better than someone who top 8’s a tournament with Dredge? Someone who wins! The Eh Team welcomes Felix Tse, winner of the recent Face to Face Modern Open in Toronto. How to play Dredge through the hate cards. The Dredge talk is so great in fact, that KYT has to bring on GP Toronto 2010 winner Jon Rowe to give the listeners the real details on Felix. Jon posits that players like Felix are the product of the Golden Age of Competitive Magic. Or is there a new Golden Age ready to dawn? And Jay Boosh couldn’t return without bringing a Poop Story for the listeners.

The Eh Team #288 – Practice Winning

Jeremey’s been playing Pokemon Go, and lives in a really lucky neighbourhood to be doing so. The impact of Pokestops and Lures on attendance at Magic tournaments. Jeremey managed to do well playing Green-Black at the EMN prerelease, resisting the siren call of white bombs. What does playing in a Prerelease have in common with the Edmonton Oilers? Which cards Jeremey thought were standouts in the new sealed format. More Dredging in Modern, this time with Zen Takahashi’s WMCQ-winning list. KYT & Jeremey enjoyed the EVO Street Fighter V championship this past weekend. The lessons to be learned from the EVO winner’s interview, Infiltrator, and how they apply to competitive Magic. Jer’s Bad Codenames play story from the Prerelease. Eldritch Moon cards that could break out in Modern, for the upcoming PPTQ season.

KYT and Jay are away, so Jeremey and Matt welcome not one, but TWO amazing western Canadian guests, recent WMCq winner Brian “Bo” Su, and friend of the show Face to Face $5K Open winner Doug Potter. BoSu won the second spot on the 2016 Canadian WMC team with OmenShift in the Modern WMCQ held in Edmonton last weekend. Why [card]Prismatic Omen[/card] is so key to that deck now. Trends in local Modern metagames. Why Jund is still such a popular Modern deck. Doug piloted Bant Eldrazi to the top at the Modern F2F Open. You gotta mulligan in Modern. Pokemon Go strategy, of course! Doug brings up the “BoSu Costa Rica” Story, and of course, what is a guests episode without Scumbag Stories?
