Showdown Recap: Throne of Eldraine Team Sealed

0

This past weekend, to help celebrate the release of Throne of Eldraine, we hosted our first ever Team Sealed Sunday Showdown. This has got to be the most collaborative way to play Magic, and is a really fun way to get together with some friends and battle.

When the dust settled on our special event, Brian Ching claimed his second consecutive Team Showdown title alongside Matt Chow and Scott Smith.

In our Top 4 Team Draft this trio was able to harness the power of many of Eldraine’s powerful blue cards in order to come out on Top.

Joining them in the finals .was the team of Di Marco, Goosen and Lonie. Rounding out our Top 4 was Mcmann, Mcmann and Repington as well as Boccitto, Kadish and Santangelo.

You may recognize Eilidh “AliasV” Lonie from many of the Magic Pro League and Mythic Championship broadcasts on Twitch. Well, she took a break from streaming this past Sunday to join us and make the finals of our Showdown. Congrats!

It’s been awesome watching all of the ELD Limited action at our Showdowns these past two weekends. The format is slow and grindy and that leads to some really interesting games.

Before I leave you for the week I’d just like to quickly plug all of Face to Face Games’ upcoming WPN qualifier events. Wizards of the Coast has added a new system to their competitive framework to allow players to qualify for the upcoming Player’s Tour at the local level. Below are the dates of our upcoming Open+ events which will qualify the winner for the PT and check out this article to find out how you can qualify at your local Face to Face location as well.

With their win on Sunday, Ching, Chow and Smith cement their spot in the upcoming Ultimate Showdown, while the rest of our Top 4 have begun their march up the leader board to qualify. If you’re interested in your Ultimate Showdown point total, you can check it out here. If you’d like to inquire about your point total or report a discrepancy, please email Toronto@facetofacegames.com.

This upcoming weekend at Face to Face Games Toronto we’ll be hosting a Legacy Showdown! I know many of you’ll be in the Thanksgiving spirit, and nothing goes better with the tradition of Holidays than casting some old school Magic cards. We’ll also be hosting Drafts all day long on Monday during the Holiday, and giving out some FREE pie to celebrate, so make sure to pre-register for Legacy this weekend and come on down for a full weekend of Magic!
