F2F Tour Hamilton 2025 Recap

The F2F Tour rolled into Hamilton this past weekend for a Modern Super Qualifier, drawing 75 players in a battle for top honors. After a full day of competition, it was Nathan Hawrylak who emerged victorious with Boros Energy, while Tyler Anderson made a strong run to claim second place with Dimir Frog.

Nathan Hawrylak Takes the Title

Nathan Hawrylak won the event with Boros Energy, navigating a competitive field to secure first place.

Tyler Anderson’s Strong Second-Place Finish

We caught up with Tyler Anderson, the runner-up of the event, who piloted Dimir Frog to an impressive finish.

Here’s what he had to say about his experience in Hamilton:

1. You had an incredible run at the Modern Super Qualifier in Hamilton, finishing in 2nd place. How does it feel to come so close to the win, and what are your biggest takeaways from the event?
Tyler Anderson: “Obviously you always want to take down an event that you make Top 8 in, so it stung watching it slip away, but I was happy for my opponent. You could tell it meant a lot to them. My biggest takeaway from this event is that Psychic Frog is easily the best card in the format.”

2. What deck did you bring to the event, and why did you choose it? Were there any last-minute tweaks or metagame calls that paid off?
Tyler Anderson: “I brought UB Frog and chose to play it as I’ve always been a Murktide enjoyer in Modern. I played two Harbinger of the Seas in the main, expecting to face more 4C Breach & Eldrazi, which ended up paying off since I played against Eldrazi three times.”

3. Were there any standout moments during your run—whether a key match, an unexpected challenge, or a particularly satisfying win?
Tyler Anderson: “The biggest standout moment for me was Round 3 when my opponent had pregame actions and revealed Chancellor of the Dross. I did not have that on my bingo card.”

4. Modern is always evolving. Were there any specific matchups or strategies you were hoping to dodge or felt confident playing against?
Tyler Anderson: “That’s the fun part about playing UB Frog in Modern—there are no good or bad matchups. You’ll forever have a 50% win rate, and that’s just something you have to accept when playing the deck.”

5. Now that you’ve had this strong finish, what’s next for you? Any plans to refine your deck further, or are you eyeing another big event soon?
Tyler Anderson: “The only change I’d make is going down to 3 Consider, based off vibes. I’ll be in Chicago at the end of the month for MagicCon, cheering on some awesome friends in the Pro Tour and trying to take down a PTQ while I’m there.”
