F2F Tour Regina and Moncton 2026 Recap: Kaminsky and Mallard Take the Modern RCQs

The F2F Tour ran two Modern Regional Championship Qualifiers on the same Saturday, September 12, one in Regina and one in Moncton. Both produced a full Top 8, and the two winning decks could hardly have been further apart.

Regina: Brian Kaminsky, Izzet Prowess

Brian Kaminsky won the Modern RC Qualifier at REAL Regina with Izzet Prowess. He went into the bracket as the 6 seed on 10 points and never looked back, beating Robert Hofer, top seed Jesse Speers and then Eric Bowie in the final to take the title.

Eric Bowie took second with Neoform, and Jesse Speers (Eldrazi Ramp) and George Ren (Esper Blink) filled out the Top 4. The rest of the bracket went to Shania Norton on Bogles, Robert Hofer on Mardu Blink, Psymon Mikkonen Souter on Ruby Storm and Kody Lyons on Izzet Affinity.

Eight players, eight different decks. No nonland card made it into more than two of the eight maindecks, and Consign to Memory and Mystical Dispute were the only sideboard cards to appear more than twice, at three apiece.

Moncton: Jared Mallard, Grixis Reanimator

Moncton went the other direction entirely. Jared Mallard put Archon of Cruelty on the battlefield early and often, knocking out Zakari Bourgoin in the semifinals before a 2–1 final against Bayley Roy’s Dimir Oculus.

Bayley Roy finished second with Dimir Oculus, and William Essang joined Bourgoin in the Top 4. Eldrazi Ramp was the deck to beat in the room, putting three copies into the Top 8 between Essang, Chris Nicols and Spencer Chapman, though none of the three could get past the reanimator deck. Saul Asoyuf on Ruby Storm and Marceline Webb on Izzet Prowess rounded out the bracket.
