F2F Tour Saskatoon 2023 – Event Recap

This past weekend, the F2F Tour visited Saskatoon for the final leg of the Round 4 qualifying period. 44 players were battling during the main event (the Modern Super Qualifier), each hoping to claim an opportunity to play at one of the upcoming Round 4 Tour Weekends (Sept 29 – Oct 1 in Calgary and Nov 24 – 26 in Toronto).

Ultimately, Ryan Kirk was able to claim the title of Champion piloting Grixis Death’s Shadow. Ash Loraas, a name we see often near the top of tournaments in Western Canada, took 2nd place with Mono Black Coffers. Both decks seem to be on the fringe of the Modern metagame at the moment, but might pick up steam after these results.

The main event is never the only thing happening at our F2F Tour events. We have side events, Commander pods and drafts firing throughout the day.

This Saskatoon stop had a special event brought to us by the guys from Commander Cookout – a Commander Masters Sealed tournament where the winner would win an oversized Jeweled Lotus.

Many players would try to fight for the grand prize, but it was Cliff Ballantyne who would emerge victorious. Huge thanks to WOTC for providing such an incredible prize to be won.

Tomorrow, the F2F Tour continues in the city of Prince George. Be sure to check out F2FTour.com for more information about that event and our upcoming schedule!
